How much protein should I be taking for body building?
January 31st, 2010 | by admin |I’ve been body building for about 6 months now and I’m not sure how much protein I should be taking. Some people say about 30 grams a day and others say 1 gram / lb of weight.
I’m 6′3", 220 lbs with about 18% body fat (and going down).
The other thing is when I should be taking the protein? I do take the protein shortly after a workout session, but do I need to take more protein on the off days as well?
You should be getting 1.5 – 2 grams of protein per lb of bodyweight. Protein consumption should be all day long with about 2.5 hours in between meals. Pre and post workout meals should be the most important. Drink plenty of water in conjunction with eating frequently throughout the day.

Take 2-3 grams of protein per pound of body-weight. I usually take a protein supplement before I work out and another after I work out with creatine.
